Show Your Eyes Some Love This Autumn
With warm autumnal decorations, leaves falling from the trees and the crisp morning air, it’s easy to see why so many of us love the autumn season.
However, as beautiful as autumn is, some of us know all too well the struggle of watery eyes, dry eyes and the discomfort of squinting past headlights during this time of the year.
Thankfully, there is quite a lot you can do to help relieve some of this discomfort and get back to carving pumpkins in peace.
π4 Top Tipsπ
Eye Drops
Preservative-free eye drops are a great way to ease the symptoms of dry eyes. Using these, as advised, will help lubricate the eyes and bring relief to those uncomfortable, itchy and gritty sensations.
Reflection-Free Lenses
During certain times of the morning/ evening, our pupils dilate to help us see better in dimmer light. This means, when headlights or street lights appear, our eyes have to work harder to quickly switch focus, in order to maintain clear vision throughout our journey.
If you find it difficult at certain times to see the road, it could be worth while discussing reflection-free lenses with your optician, to see what options are available and would work best for you.
Warm Blankets and Cosy Jumpers
There’s nothing better than having a warm fire burning, or the heating cranked up, when the autumn chill arrives.
However! Your eyes might not be so appreciative.
The warmer your home is, the more aggravated your dry eyes may become. Therefore, it may be more beneficial for you to sit on the sofa with a warm blanket, cosy jumper and a big mug of hot chocolate.
Air Humidifier
If you’re heart is set on that roaring fire, you could also try an air humidifier. This will help bring moisture back into the room and could help alleviate some symptoms that come with dry eye.
The great thing about an air humidifier, is that you can also add some lovely smelling essential oils, which are a great alternative to burning candles.Β Sorry candle lovers! But yes, your favourite pumpkin spice candle could also be irritating your eyes.
