Ageing And Your Eyes
Typically speaking, you should be having a sight test every 2 years. However, if you are part of the lucky few who have been blessed with great sight, you may not have felt the need for frequent checkups and are now unsure what warrants a visit to your optician.
As eye care professionals, we advise that if you feel in any way your sight has changed or you are experiencing discomfort or pain, book a sight test. Your sight is important and you deserve to have any questions answered and worries put to bed.
As you age, your eyes ability to lubricate and restore damaged cells reduces. This then leads to symptoms such as blurred vision, eye strain, headaches etc.
Here are just a few things that would warrant a sight test.
1. Blurry Vision. If you have noticed your vision is blurry, whether that be when seeing near or far, you should consult an optician.
2. Headaches. Headaches could be a sign you are straining your eyes. Therefore, even if you don’t necessarily notice any major difference in your vision, have your eyes checked as you may need glasses.
3. Itchy or irritated eyes. Dry Eye is a very common condition, which can be caused by many different factors. Many people live in discomfort with this condition and may not realise there are a number of different treatments available. We offer a dry eye treatment, which gives you relief for an extended period of time, rather than relying on the daily use of eye drops. To find out more, give us a call, or book an appointment to discuss your options.
4. Eye pain or discolouration. If you have any sort of discomfort, discolouration or pain in the eye, it is always worth while letting one of our professionals have a look.
Remember: You can have a private sight test at any time. Please do not allow symptoms to linger or become worse. Regular sight tests allow us to keep an eye on your eye health, answer any questions you have and catch any signs your eyes need further support. The best form of action is prevention.
